This is fairly old news by now but is AKB48 producer Akimoto looking to conquer the world with his idol group? Recently an English version of the AKB48 official website has been put up. It’s still not complete yet but it’s a sign that they’re looking to further the group’s fanbase by looking abroad. It seems that there’ll also be a service where fans can download stage performances of the group in action. So far this is only available in Japan but it’s looking likely that it’ll go global in 2009. Perhaps in the near future we’ll see AKB48′s singles being sold in the US just like Hangry & Angry with an overseas tour. Here’s a link to the English website:

This morning I had my first look at the PV for the new unit No Sleeves. No Sleeves consists of 3 members from Team A: Minami Takahashi, Kojima Haruna and Minami Minegishi and their new song called Relax is released on the 26th November. This unit coincides with the 3 girls all starring in their own late night TV drama called Mendol – Ikemen Idol. The storyline is about the three who want to be idols but constantly fail. They witness a crime and go on the run from the villains but fortunately for them a producer saves them and is willing to let them realise their dreams of being idols but to do so they have to hide their true identities and are forced to dress as boys! I’d love to see the drama but so far I don’t think anybody’s subbed it. I’ll wait as I’m sure it’ll pop up somewhere eventually. I like the song and this is another purchase for me when I hit Tokyo at the end of the month. Please enjoy the PV below:
