On my last day in Japan I bought the Kago Channel DVD and watched it last night but a couple of things have made me question whether it’s all set-up or not?
When I saw the first person getting slapped by her for being a young smoker I thought to myself why is he not yelling back for her? Is he in shock at the fact he’s been slapped by a celebrity or he’s just weak? In fact all of the young teenagers being slapped by her don’t do anything. Are they all actors? In the back of my mind there’s a voice that says there’s something dodgy going on here. I’m not convinced by how genuine these victims are. There has to be a risk that one person would retaliate and even turn violent by being slapped which is why I thought it was stupid considering doing that. The purpose of the segment to make teen viewers stop smoking has good intentions which is fine by me. I know one thing for certain, if I was slapped across the face by a celebrity or whoever I’d definitely demand to know what the hell that person was doing. Even the man she encounters in the suicide forest at night didn’t convince me even if she did shed some tears talking about her suicide attempt.
I found the DVD entertaining enough though, I even laughed at the first segment with the teen smokers and no doubt I’ll buy Vol.2 which has just been released. Kago is still as cute and adorable as ever on the DVD in that pink nurse’s uniform.
I’m happy to hear that Kago has been cleared by her doctor of not having Meniere’s disease and that total rest is all she needs to make a full recovery. That’s not going to be easy if she’s got a play coming up.
