So the figures are finally in for the first day sales. It’s not quite what I expected but still a great figure nevertheless. There was so many predicting over 500k today due to the number of CD’s shipped out to stores but in the end they sold a hefty 340,487 copies. It’s around 10k down on what Ponytail to Shushu achieved but you’ve got to realise that there was the extra incentive of voting in the senbatsu election for Ponytail. I guess everybody had their own expectation on how well this single would do on the first day. I really thought the PV itself would persuade more people to buy the single – I guess I was wrong about that. The girls still have a lot to celebrate though so well done to all of them. I hope there’ll be strong sales for the 2nd day tomorrow. We shall see whether they manage to crack the first week total for Ponytail next week.
