The figures are in for the 1st day sales of GIVE ME FIVE! but did it manage to crack the million barrier? Unfortunately it didn’t as the final figure was 966,529, an increase of 7k over their last single Ue Kara Mariko. This is still a very impressive total for the girls and I know that many fans are a little bit disappointed thinking this was a certain million seller on the first day though I’m not disappointed one bit. I think they’ve done very well. I think some fans want AKB48 to break sales records with each new single released but that isn’t going to happen I’m afraid. As fans we should be grateful that the group we love so much can achieve so much in 1 day. How many J-artists/groups would kill to have sales figures like AKB48. However, the next AKB48 single will contain voting slips for the 2012 Senbatsu Election and that could indeed see records being broken.
