12 06 2011

Starting on Thursday (June 16th), SDN48 have announced that they’ll be removing a ban on under 18 fans that have been wanting to see them perform. A toned down stage performance will only be available for under 18 fans from 7pm and earlier. The ban will remain in place for any performance after 8.30pm which will be strictly for over 18’s.

Have you been to their over-18 performances? How is it like?

I haven’t even seen AKB48 yet let alone SDN48. I’ve tried the email lottery many times to get a ticket to see a stage at the theater but nothing so far. It’s probably harder than ever to get a ticket now with AKB48 so popular. Perhaps I’ll get lucky the next time I’m in Tokyo???

Cant you just buy a ticket in advance or something? Or is the lottery the only way for foreigners to see them?

Unfortunately not, you can’t buy advance tickets. The email lottery is the only chance you have of seeing any of the 48 family. You might have a greater chance with nabbing one of the Super Enpou tickets as they’re for foreigners only but there’s only 6 seats available for each show. I’m still hopeful that one day I’ll get to see AKB48 at their theater.

So if you get a balloted ticket, you’ll plan a trip to Tokyo?

It’s best if you’re already in Tokyo when you enter the email lottery or send an email a day or two before you catch a flight there. The AKB48 Theater allows you to send them an email with the dates you’re gonna be in town and the stage(s) you want to watch a month in advance so they’ll try their best to make sure you get a ticket for a show – no guarantees obviously. This only applies for Super Enpou applications. Regular tickets you usually apply a couple of days before a show.

I could have seen a private AKB48 mini concert at the HMV Shibuya store (sadly no longer there) last April. Their compilation album was released on 7th April 2010. If anybody bought the album, you could go to these 2 people who had a stall outside the shop and dip your hand inside a box to grab a colored ball. Get the right colored ball and you received a free ticket to see a private AKB48 mini concert at the store. I managed to get a free ticket but there was one snag though. The date for the concert just happened to be a couple of days after I’d have gone home. I was totally devastated.
