AKB48’s album “Koko ni Ita Koto” which came out last week has sold 602,000 copies during the past 7 days which is just incredible. It also breaks a 11 year record by a female group for the highest selling album sold in 1 week which was previously held by Morning Musume for their 3rd album. They sold 578,000 copies of that album in the 1st week. That’s not all – it’s also the highest selling album of the year so far. AKB48 have a lot to celebrate this year.
So far, AKB48 have released 2 compilation albums over the years – “Kamikyokutachi” which has sold 521,000 copies and “SET LIST ~Greatest Songs~ Kanzenban” has shifted 152,000 copies to date.
Their latest single “Everyday, Kachuusha” continues to hold a firm grip inside the Top 5 of the Oricon Single Charts staying at no.3 for the 3rd week of release. 3 consecutive weeks inside the Top 5 is a rare achievement these days. The grand total stands at 1.49 million and surely they’ll break the 1.5 million barrier this week.
