The End Is Nearly Nigh For Hana no Kimi 2011

1 08 2011

You can safely say now that Acchan’s drama Hana no Kimi will shortly be having it’s plug pulled after ratings for the 4th episode came out plunging it to an all-new low. After recovering a little bit last week though it wasn’t fantastic, ratings fell to a paltry 5.5% last night. The writing has been on the wall for the past 3 weeks and I don’t think it will ever recover now. The people at Fuji TV cannot ignore the ratings so they’re bound to do something about it. Will they move the drama from primetime to a midnight slot or just cut the episodes down? The average for the run so far is 7.6% and that’s mostly due to the opening episode which hit 10.1%. I do feel sorry for Acchan that such a high profile drama for her to have a starring role is doing so badly. I also feel for the rest of the AKB48 members that have supporting roles like Yukirin.

No AKB48 fan wants to watch Acchan make merry with Ikemen, honestly

Well… while the drama in itself isn’t particularly bad (acting is okay, etc.) it suffers from the fact that it doesn’t bring anything new to the table compared to its original. It was just much too early for a remake, IMHO. And indeed, Acchan getting grabbed on the chest, kissed and touched by guys (not girls) doesn’t help to appeal to the male AKB48 audience either. šŸ˜‰

I agree with both of you on this matter.

I really think if they would have waited another three years, it might have different ratings. I mean 2007 was only four years ago…not eight.
