NMB48 Celebrates Their 2nd No.1 Single

26 10 2011

AKB48 aren’t the only ones celebrating today, let’s not forget the achievement of their sister group down in Osaka – NMB48 who scored their 2nd no.1 single in the Oricon Charts.

NMB48’s Oh My God outsold their debut single by nearly 50k to post a very impressive figure of 265,435 copies for the first week. Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo sold 218,441 during the same time.

Other great news for the group is that they’re the first female group to sell 200k with their first two singles.

Congratulations to all of NMB48.

I wondered before if Oh My God! would outsell Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo without the bloomers punishment. Happy to see it did and that NMB’s success is continuing. Two straight #1 singles! Congrats, NMB48!

Compared to the small, slow and steady sales figures that happened with SKE48 singles when they debuted, NMB48 have just exploded onto the idol scene and done incredibly well with their 2 singles so far. It took 4 singles for SKE48 to finally break the 100k barrier. I can see NMB48 catching up with SKE48 sales figures in 12-15 months quite easily if this upward sales trend with each new single continues. In fact could NMB48 even surpass SKE48’s popularity eventually?
