J-Pop Top 100 Songs Of 2011

27 12 2011

It’s that time of year again when I compile a list of the best 100 J-Pop songs I’ve listened to during the year. IMO 2011 was slightly better than 2010 in terms of great music coming out in Japan. It was tough as it always is in doing this countdown but overall I’m satisfied with what I picked.

Buono! – Our Songs PV

1 02 2010

The mighty Buono! (probably the best thing in H!P right now) release their 10th major single on Wednesday, 3rd February – a week before their brand new 3rd album comes out. This is the most recent end theme for the anime series Shugo Chara! It’s another great song from the trio. I didn’t like their last single so I’m happy that they’re back on form with this song. The PV is rather amusing as Momo has a t-shirt that says “Baby I am sure a bitch”!! I hope the director of the PV realised that it’s an offensive word – maybe he didn’t care!!

Buono – Bravo ☆ Bravo PV

2 12 2009

Here comes Buono’s 9th major single called Bravo Bravo which comes out on December 16th. It might grow on me but it’s a step down in my opinion from their last song Take It Easy which I liked a lot. The song is the 9th ending theme to the anime Shugo Chara!

Buono! – Take It Easy PV

6 08 2009

Below you’ll find the newly released PV to Buono’s next single Take It Easy which is out on the shops on 26th August 2009.

The song is up to the high standards I’ve come to expect from Buono! and it doesn’t disappoint at all. The PV finds Miyabi, Momo and Airi taking a bus trip to a seaside town, walking around and having a barbeque on the beach.

Buono! – My Boy PV

16 04 2009

Buono’s My Boy PV is finally out. It’s a great sounding fast upbeat song with a fun PV of the trio acting as spies and breaking into a top security house under orders from a mysterious figure who looks suspiciously like Tsunku to retrieve a cake shaped like a heart! Enjoy the PV. The song is also the end theme to the anime Shugo Chara.

Here’s the covers as well for the song. The first is the limited edition CD & DVD version and the 2nd one is just the regular (CD only) version.

Big News! – Buono! To Appear At Stockholm Japan Expo

6 03 2009

As if the excitement about Morning Musume coming to LA wasn’t enough comes the news that will thrill H!P fans in Europe as Buono! have been confirmed to appear at the Stockholm Japan Expo on the 24th May. This will be the first time for any Hello!Project group to appear in Europe and they’re not just at the Expo to smile and shake hands with fans they will perform as well. This is brilliant news for everybody in Europe. Just like the LA Expo, I expect tickets to quickly sell out once word of their appearance makes the rounds on the internet. It’s only a short hop on an airline for many to go to Sweden.  Now if Buono! are coming to Sweden can we expect Berryz or even C-ute to come to the London or Paris Expo? Only time will tell but one thing’s for certain, Tsunku’s plan for world domination by H!P is well and truly underway!

Hangry & Angry/Buono! PV’s

22 11 2008

This week saw the release of the goth pop unit Hangry & Angry starring Yossi and Charmy with their debut single Kill Me Kiss Me. With a simultaneous release also in the US I’m wondering how sales are going there during the first couple of days. Are they making any kind of impact at all? As for the PV itself I like the use of brash colors in it and especially the costumes but the fake guitar playing by the duo just looks out of place. Yossi does her best to look tough and threatening but Rika is trying to look cute. It doesn’t matter what type of clothes, hairstyle or makeup they put on Rika she still maintains that cuteness about her. What’s with those odd facial expressions in the PV as well? The song isn’t what I’d usually listen to but I was prepared to give it a go and I enjoyed it.

Buono! have gone all retro in the PV to their 5th single Rottara Rottara which has a 60’s inspired theme to it. Airi, Momo and Miyabi look fantastic in their mini-skirts and knee high white boots and whilst I was unsure of the song when I first heard it, after the 2nd play I started to like it.
