The Wait Is Nearly Over….

5 06 2012

The time to vote is over and tomorrow is the big day for all of us AKB48 fans when we’ll discover who will be the senbatsu and center for the next single that’ll come out in August.

The senbatsu election will be broadcasted live on Google+ from 17:20pm (JST) so you won’t miss anything. The link to the page where you’ll be able to see the election has already been uploaded: http://www.akb48plus.com/senkyo/en/teaser.html

I hope everybody will enjoy the show and I’ll make a post straight after the end with my thoughts and feelings on it. All that’s left to say is I wish all of your oshimen the very best of luck.

AKB48 – Record Breakers Again/1st Day Prelim Results

23 05 2012

It’s been quite an exciting day for me especially with the prelim results concerning my oshi but we’ll get to that later. Let’s concentrate on the phenomenal sales for Manatsu no Sounds Good first. I think the majority of us knew that they would crack the million barrier today but by how much? With 2 million copies of the single having been shipped out, fans were thinking perhaps 1.5m would be sold but the actual figure was 1,170,554 – the best ever first day sales yet and breaking another record for them. It easily beats last year’s election single which sold 942,475 on it’s first day. Who knows how much they will sell by this time next week?

So then, onto the Senbatsu Election voting which started yesterday. I got the biggest surprise today seeing Umechan’s name in the senbatsu. I’m deliriously happy for her and hope she’ll maintain this position. For everybody that’s voted for her you have my thanks. I am sure we’ll hear Umechan’s thoughts on this in her blog/Google+ account. There’s nothing that surprising about the Top 10 at all but I do like the tussle that’s going on between W Matsui. Please remember that what you see below represents 10%, yes ONLY 10% of the votes. There’s a lot of people yet to vote. So where does your oshi stand in the list below:

FUTURE GIRLS

PS – Umechan found out about her position from her mother!! She called to tell her the result. Umechan was too scared to look at the results! She’s very surprised about how well she’s doing and even cried on the phone. I’m hoping for more tears on the 6th June – tears of joy!!

AKB48 4th Senbatsu Election Predictions

14 05 2012

Next week will see AKB48 release their newest single and with it comes the all important voting slips for you to pick the member you want to see as being the center for the 27th single which will be released in August.

With Acchan out of the election, it is obvious that Yuko will take Acchan’s crown as no.1 but as for the rest, there is no doubt there will be many members jockeying for positions and where they will end up in the Top 10 isn’t that easy to predict. I don’t think anybody will stay in the same position they were last year and I’m sure there will be a surprise or two come the election results on June 6th. As much as I would love to see my beloved oshi Umechan in the senbatsu I don’t think it’s going to happen but I’m staying loyal to her and will cast my 2 votes to her. I think she will improve on the no.22 position she achieved last year, possibly up to no.16.

So here’s who I think will be in the Top 10:

1. Yuko Oshima
2. Rino Sashihara
3. Mayu Watanabe
4. Yuki Kashiwagi
5. Mariko Shinoda
6. Minami Takahashi
7. Rena Matsui
8. Kojima Haruna
9. Minami Minegishi
10. Tomomi Itano

Sasshi has had a phenomenal 12 months and I think this will show and she will make a major move up from no.9 last year to possibly no.2 but it’s going to be a close run thing with Mayuyu. I know that Mariko usually does well in the elections but I can see her dropping a place or two this year. Another surprise which I’m predicting is finally Miichan hitting the Top 10. I can’t see Jurina or even Sayanee/Milky denting the Top 10 but I’m guessing they will make the Top 16.

Who do you see in your Top 10 for the election?

NMB48’s Titanic Task

14 05 2012

Last week saw the mighty Arashi have their first chart battle with an 00048 group and it was Kansai’s NMB48 that was given the task of trying to derail Arashi from having another no.1 hit with their 4th single Nagiichi. First day sales went well for NMB48 although they had to contend with being no.2 but they sold 231k, a drop of 50k from their previous single Junjou U-19. Arashi sold 250k during the same day. The problem that NMB48 had to contend with as well is idol single sales tend to have a considerable drop after the first day and that was what happened to NMB48. Arashi’s sales are usually steady for the whole week. By the 2nd and 3rd day, Arashi had gotten themselves a healthy and sizeable lead over the young idols but yesterday saw an unprecedented huge hike in sales which saw NMB48 sell 91k. Theater versions of their single had finally gone out to customers so this is why there was such a boost to their sales. Unfortunately it won’t be enough for NMB48 to overtake Arashi’s sales for the week but they’ve accounted themselves very well against them and have even beaten Junjou U-19’s sales for the 1st week. Had AKB48 or SKE48 gone head to head against Arashi I think we would be seeing a different picture.

SKE48 Member Injured At Today’s Performance

11 03 2012

So then guys, did any of you tune in to watch the live AKB48 concert today on Youtube to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the Tohoku disaster. Even though it was short, I thought it was great and to hear Nakaya and Karen’s tearful account of not being able to do nothing when they heard the terrible news as they both come from the 2 prefectures that was affected the most was touching to say the least. There was 5 simultaneous concerts going on at the same time with SKE48, NMB48, HKT48 and SDN48. Apart from SDN48 who were at Tokyo Big Sight in Odaiba, the rest took place in their own theaters. There was a live link up with all 4 other concerts and in the climax they all sang Sakura No Hanabiratachi together.

Unfortunately at the SKE48 concert, Team S member Kanako Hiramatsu tripped and in the process managed to fracture her right foot. She’ll be out of action for at least 6 weeks and will recover at home.

Get well soon Kanako.

NMB48 Tour Locations Announced

29 02 2012

As I reported in an earlier post, NMB48 will be going on tour in Osaka prefecture during April and May as a thank you for the local fans who have supported them and made them create history in the Oricon charts with their first 3 singles.

So these are the locations they’ll be heading to on the dates below:

April 19th – Kashiwara Riviere Hall
April 24th – Suita May Theater
April 25th – Sakai City Hall
May 2nd – Osaka ORIX Theater
May 3rd – Osaka ORIX Theater
May 16th – Takatsuki Modern Theater
May 27th – Kaizuka Cosmos Theater
May 29th – Kishiwada Nakari Hall
May 30th – Yao Prism Hall
May 31st – NHK Osaka Hall

For those looking forward perhaps to seeing the newly formed Team M there’s bad news on that as only Team N will be participating in these concerts. Still, it’s a nice gesture by the group to have a tour for the local fans who have helped made them into a national success.

NMB48 Hotel Room Scandal Revisited! More Trouble Perhaps For Some Members?

28 02 2012

Take this piece of news with a pinch of salt as nothing has been confirmed. It could be completely false. There’s a rumour flying around about the NMB48 hotel room scandal that took place in 2011. Last year a couple of members were suspended due to inviting some male fans into their hotel rooms and this latest rumour boils down to the same wotas that were involved in that. The rumour have even reached Aki-P’s ears who has asked the NMB48 manager to explain what the hell is going on with his charges. Fans tried to contact NMB48 management to explain the situation but they didn’t respond so they asked Aki-P instead. The last thing Aki-P wants is another scandal on his cards.

So let’s dig deeper and find out what this rumour are all about. Runa Fujita from the newly formed Team M recently said in her Google+ account “Um, can I call Kaito’s mom?”. She wasn’t meant to do that but before she could erase the message, those infamous 2channelers managed to grab a screenshot of the message. Now who is this Kaito person? A female friend, a relative perhaps. No, this is the name of the chief wota that was involved in the NMB48 hotel room scandal last year. Some details of what really went down in the scandal haven’t been disclosed but according to 2ch, some NMB48 members did different things hence why some members got more serious punishment than others. It is said that there are 6 members involved with these wotas, some in a proper relationship with them. Most met these guys in their hotel room, another met one outside a 7-11 store. Allegedly it was Nana Yamada that blabbed to management what was going on and once the scandal broke out, these wotas immediately set to attack Yamada on her blog and Google+ account with nasty comments. 2channelers hit back and attacked the wotas’ accounts. The wotas have threatened to disclose the secrets of these NMB48 members to the press. It has also created friction between Yamada and the accused members.

NMB48 management have replied back finally saying that this Kaito is a member of Fujita’s family and that fans shouldn’t listen to the 2ch troublemakers. Is this their attempt to ‘hush-hush’ the scandal and brush it under the carpet. This hasn’t satisfied the fans though and the reply back from NMB48 has only inflamed the situation even more. Right now who knows what will happen next? It could all die down in the next few days or it could explode into something far bigger which could see some NMB48 members being given the sack! Stay tuned.
