SKL39 – A New Restaurant Idol Group!

In a very unusual move, the Skylark restaurant company has formed an idol group called SKL39 to celebrate it’s 40th anniversary next month. The name refers to the numbers of members in the group and can also be read as being Thank You (San-Kyuu).

Their songs will be about the food and meals you can get in Skylark restaurants and with that in mind they released their debut single online “Tokonatsu★Supachiki” yesterday which you can download from their official website: http://www.skl39.jp/

The members vary in age from 18 to 25 years old and they’ve already opened up individual twitter accounts. However, this group could be short-lived as Skylark has said that unless the group gets 4,000 messages by July 14th (the 40th anniversary) the idol group will be disbanded. I can’t see them failing to reach that. Should they reach the amount required, they will make an official debut at an anniversary event sometime in July.
