If you head over to 7-11’s website (link below), you can pick up some very special Christmas AKB48 wallpapers. Every day until Christmas Eve, the website will reveal a new wallpaper for you to download. 4 wallpapers have already been unveiled as this treat for AKB48 fans started on the 1st December. The website also shows what other AKB48 related products are available at their stores.
Japanese mobile music service Recochoku’ users had the chance recently to vote on the music artists they felt was this year’s “MVP”. Over a period of 2 weeks last month, 2,766 votes were received and it comes as no surprise that AKB48 came out on top. Recochoku has been particularly popular for AKB48 music PV’s and have topped the Video Clip rankings for 7 consecutive months which is a record. AKB48 even have 3 of their PV’s in the Top 5 video clips.

AKB48 member Mariko Shinoda will have a recurring role in Fuji TV’s new Monday night drama series, “Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta” which starts in January.
Mariko will play a wedding planner called Sayaka alongside the main stars Erika Toda and Haruma Miura. The plot is about two teachers who are engaged to marry but the man starts getting involved with one of his pupils. Mariko’s character knows both of the main characters from her university days and she once dated the man but now she lives in an apartment with his fiancee. However it seems there could be a love triangle scenario as Sayaka’s feelings for her former boyfriend have not entirely disappeared.
